Q. What did you want to be when you were small? A. When I was little I wanted to be a teacher just like my mom, I loved going to her classroom and hanging out at the school after hours, I felt so cool running down the empty hallways.
Q. What’s your favorite family
tradition? A. Every Christmas we spend the entire day in our pj’s eating snacks by the fire and re-watching Modern Family together.
Q. What was a moment from your childhood that made you feel especially proud of yourself? A. I spent half a year in art class drawing a very intricate tree with several hundred branches, it was submitted to an art show and I got second place! It was what made me fall in love with art and taught me that it’s worth finishing what you start.
Q. Who was a leader you admired growing up, and what’s one thing you learned from them? A. Michelle Obama – she taught me that there is strength in being vulnerable
Q. What is the best gift you have been given? A. When I was younger my parents gave me a 150 piece art kit and it’s what sparked my love for being creative and using it as a way to express yourself.
Q. If you had a warning label, what would yours say? A. I love to host, but please leave my house by 9pm
Q. What’s a skill or habit you’ve picked up recently that you’re proud of? A. Over the last year I’ve gotten really into fitness, it’s something that I’ve always struggled with being consistent at and making it part of my daily routine. Once I realized that consistency isn’t about giving 100% everyday, it’s about showing up and giving what you can, even if it’s just 10%.
Q. What’s one piece of leadership advice you would give to your younger self? A. No one remembers what you were the best at or what you’ve accomplished, they remember how you made them feel.
Q. What’s your secret talent or something you’re good at that people might not know? A. I love a good DIY. Seeing something that I want and thinking, “I can probably make that”, and then figuring out how to accomplish it. I recently made a coffee table for our living room.
Q. What’s a small win you’re celebrating this week? A. We’ve (hopefully) successfully potty trained our 5-month old puppy! No accidents inside this week, so that’s been a huge win.
